More Than a Pantry—A Place of Care

When Medical Assisting student Azaria Lattimore-Greene first visited Chaser’s Pantry, she expected shelves of canned goods. What she found was so much more—a welcoming space where kindness and compassion come first. “Chaser’s Pantry was a lifeline for me and my family,” Azaria shared. “The kindness of the volunteers lifted my spirits during hard times.”

Meeting a Growing Need

For many SCC students, balancing tuition, transportation, and childcare can make food insecurity a real barrier. The pantry bridges that gap by offering free shelf-stable groceries, snacks, and hygiene products to any currently enrolled student—no paperwork, no judgment, just help when it’s needed most.

In 2024 alone, 630+ students made over 1,000 visits, collecting more than 2,000 food items and 700+ non-food essentials. Each visit represents a student who could focus on class instead of hunger.

Paying It Forward

Azaria’s experience inspired her to volunteer and encourage others to give back. “The kindness I received has motivated me to pay it forward,” she said. “Now I want to be that support for someone else.”

A Community Effort

Chaser’s Pantry runs entirely on donations from faculty, staff, and local partners. Every contribution—whether a can of soup or a box of granola bars—strengthens SCC’s mission of care.
