Spartanburg Community College Culinary Arts Student Zachary Nolen Named 2026 Chime Workforce Scholar

The Chime Workforce Scholarship, funded by the Chime Scholars Foundation and administered by the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation, provides each scholar with a $1,000 scholarship to help cover educational expenses while completing a certificate or associate degree that prepares them to enter the workforce in a high-demand field.

Zachary is currently pursuing his education through SCC’s Culinary Arts program, where he is developing the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to pursue a career in the culinary industry.

“Being selected as a Chime Workforce Scholar means a lot to me, and I’m very thankful,” Zachary said. “This support helps me continue my journey in Culinary Arts and build a better future for my son and me.”

“Zachary’s recognition as a Chime Workforce Scholar is a wonderful reflection of his hard work and commitment to building a successful future,” said Dr. Michael Mikota, President of Spartanburg Community College. “Our Culinary Arts program is designed to give students the practical skills and real-world experience they need to turn their passion into a rewarding career. We are proud to see Zachary recognized nationally and excited for what lies ahead for him.”

The Chime Workforce Scholarship supports students preparing for high-demand careers that strengthen their communities and local economies. By helping students complete their education and earn workforce credentials, the program helps create a stronger pipeline of skilled workers in fields where they are needed most.
