Health Science Information Sessions

Explore which Health Science program is for you!  Attend an information session(s) to learn more about your programs of interest. 

Many Health & Human Services programs have unique requirements and prerequisites that must be met in order to gain admission into programs that have enrollment limits. Refer to the Health & Human Services Admission Requirements page for more information.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)

Attendees will receive an overview of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)    Program and the role of a professional Sonographer.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the DMS Program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Sections are optional; however, students are encouraged to attend one within the academic year in which application into the program is likely.

DMS Sessions are held in Room 115 of the Health Sciences Building at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC  29303 on the Giles Campus of SCC.


Expanded Duty Dental Assisting (EDDA) 

Attendees will receive an overview of the Expanded Duty Dental Program (EDDA) and the various roles of a professional Dental Assistant.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the EDDA Program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Sections are optional; however, students are encouraged to attend one within the academic year in which application into the program is likely.

Dental Sessions are held in Room 129 in the Health Sciences Building at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC 29303 on the Giles Campus of SCC.


Emergency Medical Services Sessions (EMS)


Attendees will receive an overview of the Emergency Medical Services profession and the roles of an EMT and Paramedic within EMS. Additionally, the EMS programs at SCC will be presented in detail. The goal of the session is to equip a student to make a well-informed decision when deciding on a program of study and career path. The sessions take approximately one hour. No appointment or registration is needed. Spouses and significant others are welcome.  

Sections are optional; however, students are encouraged to attend one within the academic year in which application into the program is likely.

Medical Assisting Sessions 

Attendees will receive an overview of the Medical Assisting (Med Assist) Program and the various roles of a Medical Assistant.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the Med Assist Program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Medical Assist Info Sessions (Giles Campus) are held in Room 203 of the Health Sciences Building located at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC  29303 on the Giles Campus of SCC.

• October 22, 2026 at 11:30am (Cherokee Campus)

Med Assist Info Sessions are held in Room 205 of the Peeler Academic Building (PAB) at 523 Chesnee Hwy. (Hwy. 11) Gaffney, SC  29341 on the Cherokee Campus of SCC.


Medical Lab Technology
 (MLT)

Attendees will receive an overview of the Medical Lab Technology (MLT) Program and the various roles of a Medical Lab Technician.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the MLT program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Pharmacy Technician Sessions
 

Attendees will receive an overview of the Pharmacy Technician Program (PHT) and the various roles of a professional Pharmacy Technician.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the PHT program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.  Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

All Pharmacy Technician Sessions are held in Room 204 in the Health Sciences Building at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC  29303 on the Giles Campus of SCC.


Radiologic Technology Sessions 

Attendees will receive an overview of the Radiologic Technology Program (RAD) and the various roles of a professional Radiologic Technician.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the RAD program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Sessions are optional; however, students are encouraged to attend one within the academic year in which they plan to potentially apply to the Radiologic Technology Program.

All Radiologic Technology Sessions are held in the Radiologic Technology Energized Laboratory in Room 332 of the Health Sciences Building at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC 29303 on the Giles Campus of SCC, (unless otherwise specified). 


Respiratory Care Sessions 

Attendees will receive an overview of the Respiratory Care Program (RES) and  the various roles of a professional Respiratory Therapist.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the RES program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Information sessions are optional; however, students are encouraged to attend one within the academic year in which they potentially plan to apply to the Respiratory Care Program.

All information sessions are held in Room 319 of the SCC Health Sciences building located at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC  29303 on the Giles Campus of SCC.


Surgical Technology Sessions
 (SUR TECH)

Attendees will receive an overview of the Surgical Technology Program and the various roles of a professional Surgical Technician.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the SURG program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Surgical Technology Sessions are optional; however, students are strongly encouraged to attend one session within the academic year in which they potentially plan to apply to the Surgical Technology Program.  You do not have to be a current SCC student to attend an information session.
