The Top 5 Resources You Didn't Know SCC Had

Spartanburg Community College (SCC) is more than just classrooms and textbooks. We're your community college and that means we're here to support you in all areas of life, both inside and outside the classroom. Check out these five helpful resources that many students don't even realize are available!

  1. Live to Chase Initiative: Tuition-Free Education

That's why we've extended our Live to Chase initiative for the 2025–2026 academic year. This program offers full tuition scholarships for over 90 academic programs, making higher education accessible to everyone.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Live or work full-time in South Carolina
  • Enroll in an SCC program of study that leads to either a certificate or degree
  • Enroll in a minimum of six credit hours
  • Students must maintain continuous enrollment (fall-spring) and a minimum 2.2 GPA.
  • Full tuition scholarships will not cover developmental courses after 30 or more attempted hours.
  • Apply early! The funds are first come, first served. The earlier you apply and register, the better!

By removing the burden of tuition costs, SCC empowers you to "Dream It, Chase It, and Live It."

  1. Chaser's Pantry: Supporting Student Well-being

No student should have to choose between food and education.   • Location: Giles Campus, Powers Building, just outside the Student Hub hallway.
  • Hours: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Whether you need food for yourself or your family, you're welcome to stop by. There are no complicated forms, no judgment—just support.

  1. Mental Health Services: You're Not Alone

College life can be stressful, and your mental health matters. SCC has partnered with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health to make counseling more accessible to you, our students.

Services are free and confidential, offering support for issues like stress, anxiety, and depression.   1. Success Coaches: Your Personal Guide to College Life

At SCC, you never have to figure things out alone. Our Success Coaches are here to guide you every step of the way—from choosing your classes to building a study plan to finding campus resources. A Success Coach is assigned to assist and support you in reaching your academic and career goals. They can assist you with overcoming barriers, connect you with helpful resources, and offer guidance to help you be a successful student.

  • Online: You can reach your Success Coach through the AVISO Success Team on the MySCC Portal.  Login to the MySCC Portal, go to Campus Applications for Students and select AVISO Success Team.

  1. Foundation Scholarships & Relief Funds: Financial Support When You Need It

SCC's Foundation offers more than 100 scholarships every year, helping students pay for tuition, books, and other expenses.

But did you know they also offer emergency help when life throws a curveball?
