Spartanburg Community College Receives Generous Equipment Donation from Takeuchi to Advance Workforce Training

Spartanburg, S.C. — Spartanburg Community College (SCC) is proud to announce a significant equipment donation from Takeuchi, aimed at expanding hands-on training opportunities for students across its technical and vocational programs.

“Takeuchi’s generous donation of the TL8-R2 track loader is more than a gift—it’s an investment in our students’ futures,” said Dr. Michael Mikota, President of Spartanburg Community College. “Thanks to our robust partnership, fostered through our unique Spark Center, our students will gain hands-on experience with industry-grade equipment, preparing them for high-demand careers right here in our community. This kind of collaboration is exactly what makes Spartanburg thrive.”

The donation includes a brand-new TL8-R2 track loader, which will be used in upcoming SCC classes. The equipment will enhance instruction in SCC’s workforce training programs, providing students with industry-standard tools and technology that reflect real-world working environments.

Representatives from Takeuchi stated: “SCC has stood by Takeuchi since day one of our facility purchase in Moore, SC. We have formed a great partnership—through training, the use of storage facilities during our growth, and recruitment support. Takeuchi is honored to donate a new TL8-R2 track loader for use in SCC classes. As part of our Co-Prosperity commitment, we aim to support efforts that are a win-win for both the communities where we operate and our local employees. This donation does just that—it helps SCC attract more students and increases Takeuchi’s brand awareness in our local community.”

The new equipment is a prime example of how community and industry partners support SCC’s mission to deliver high-quality, affordable education tailored to local workforce needs. With continued growth in Spartanburg County’s manufacturing, healthcare, and advanced technology sectors, partnerships like this are essential to closing skills gaps and supporting regional economic development.
