Tasha Marshall

Cybersecurity and Networking & Culinary Arts Graduate, 2020

From a past marked by adversity to a future built on hope and resilience, Tasha Marshall’s journey is a powerful testament to the life-changing impact of Spartanburg Community College.

Tasha came to SCC from a background of deep personal trauma, abuse, and instability. “By the time I was 16, I was out of the house and taking care of myself,” she shared. “I had no guidance, no sense of how to live life.” For years, she had given up on her dreams—until the moment she found strength in her faith and a renewed vision for her future.

That vision led her to SCC.

“I came to SCC afraid, unsure, and still healing,” Tasha said. “But from the moment I walked through the doors, I experienced something I never had before—family, support, and love.”

Through SCC’s Chaser community, Tasha found more than just education. She found professors who hugged her, encouraged her, and pushed her to believe in herself. “They nourished me into healing,” she said. “They showed me how to chase my dreams and live them.”

Tasha earned two associate degrees at SCC and is now working toward her bachelor’s degree in computer science. She no longer struggles with the anxiety and fear that once held her back—and she credits SCC with helping her grow into the confident woman she is today.

Today, Tasha’s daughter is preparing to enroll in SCC’s Dual Enrollment program. “She’s going to experience what I did—the love and empowerment inside those walls,” Tasha said. “It makes me so proud to give her the life I once only dreamed about.”

She remains deeply connected to the college and its mission. “SCC didn’t just educate me—it healed me. It restored me. It gave me a future. And I will pour back into that community for the rest of my life.”

“They believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. They didn’t let me settle for less. SCC wasn’t just a school—it was healing, restoration, and family.”
