High School Dual Credit Options at SCC
Are you ready for college-level classes? At Spartanburg Community College, we can offer you the opportunity to enroll in our courses and earn college credit while still in high school! With your choice of either Dual Enrollment or Early College, you can start chasing a brighter future at SCC today.
Dual Enrollment
Our Dual Enrollment program includes courses in general education, technology and health sciences, and if eligible you are welcome to join at any time during your high school career. The earlier you are able to join the program, the more college credits you can earn to go towards your college degree. Once you've finished your dual enrollment program and completed high school, there's always room here for another Chaser.
If you are a student or parent and are interested in Dual Enrollment, contact either your high school counselor or the SCC Dual Enrollment Office to learn more.
Early College
Unlike with the Dual Enrollment program, students qualify for Early College by being nominated by their Middle School counselor.
Starting in 9th grade and ending when you graduate from high school, SCC's Early College program offers select students the unique opportunity to earn an associate degree while simultaneously earning your high school diploma. We currently offer three different Early College programs:
- Spartanburg County Early College High School (SCECHS) is for students residing in any of the seven districts within Spartanburg County.
- Viking Early College is for male students residing in District Seven of Spartanburg County.
- Cherokee Early College is for students residing in Cherokee County.
Where Can I Take Dual Credit Classes?
Class instructors are available for in-person, online and hybrid learning formats. Students on campus will have access to support services, like our library, tutorial and testing centers, Student HUB and more!
With access to high school teachers credentialed in the subject area, or even college professors from SCC, you have the option to take college courses from the comfort of your high school campus.
For any students interested in technology programs like welding, mechatronics, health sciences and more, SCC even partners with area career centers to develop pathways and learning opportunities to get you started on your higher academic journey!
