Welcome to SCC's World of Welding

Are you looking to be trained in a highly demanding field with competitive pay? Spartanburg Community College may have just the thing for you. It can be tough getting your foot in the door in today's competitive job market, but SCC's Welding Program has historically achieved above average placement rates with graduates finding work opportunities as welders, fitters or fabricators. After graduation, starting salaries in these positions often range anywhere from $18 to $25 an hour.

Our welding students gain applicable experience in Shielding Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Oxy-Fuel Cutting with an unfaltering emphasis on Industrial Safety. After completing a welding program at SCC, students are offered either a certificate or a degree program depending on personal preference regarding your specific career goals.

Technical Scholars Program

Depending on the company sponsor, eligible programs of study and application periods may vary. These programs may include:

Which Welding Program is for You?

No matter which program you decide on pursuing, there are a wealth of learning opportunities awaiting you. With each program having specialized areas of focus and outcomes, it's up to you, with our help of course, to decide which would be the best fit for you given your interests and career goals. Some students may even consider our Non-Credit Short Term Welding option

If you go with either our Welding Certificate or Welding-General Technology AAS Degree, you'll gain experience in cutting and welding plate, mild steel pipe and stainless-steel pipe. The AAS Degree differs, however, with the addition of learning to read blueprints. Upon completion, students will even have the option to further pursue and add an advanced welding certificate to their experience.
