Want to become a daycare teacher or director, or a teacher's assistant? The Early Care and Education (ECE) programs at Spartanburg (Giles) Campus will prepare you for teaching the littlest learners. You'll learn why children behave and learn they way they do and positive methods of working with young children, and how to plan educational activities to enhance their physical, mental, emotional and social development.

* Please note that applicants wishing to enroll in the Early Care and Education certificate and degree programs must submit to a Criminal Background Investigation (CBI).

Class and books funded By TEACH: Introduction to Early Childhood 101

Whether you’re looking to earn free professional credential hours or pursuing a degree in early child care, Spartanburg Community College has an amazing opportunity for you: Introduction to Early Childhood 101 with special funds from TEACH* Early Childhood National Center.

TEACH Early Childhood South Carolina Scholarships

TECH South Carolina

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® South Carolina provides scholarships for teachers, directors, owners, and family/group providers working in childcare to complete coursework in early care and education with little to no cost. These scholarships are available to eligible individuals working a minimum number of hours per week and meet the maximum pay requirements in a licensed or registered child care facility through the SC Department of Social Services.  TEACH Early Childhood® South Carolina provides scholarships to complete course work in early childhood education courses toward the SC Early Childhood Credential, a certificate or an associate degree in early childhood education. Those eligible can transfer to a partnering 4-year college/university to complete a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Learn more at SC Endeavors website.

Students who earn credentials may be eligible for a Smart Money bonus through this organization as well.

SCC is one of four Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited programs in the Upstate to participate in an articulation agreement with Clemson University that offers students in SCC's Early Childhood Development Program the opportunity for a seamless transfer to Clemson University's College of Education to pursue a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Students wishing to teach older children should pursue the teacher education path in SCC's University Transfer.
