How do I complete this program?

  • MSSC Master Training Center: In-Person Instructor Training


    1. Instructor Training CPT & CPT+: 3 Day Course

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Industry expert with a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations
    • Industry expert with a minimum of 2 years of experience in developing and delivering manufacturing related training
    • MSSC Certified Production Technician (CPT)
    • Demonstrate ability to explain the delivery of MSSC E-learning courses
    • Strong grasp of all four MSSC Assessment areas: (Safety, Quality Practices and Measurement, Manufacturing Processes and Production and Maintenance Awareness)
    • Candidates will obtain their CPT Certification prior to hands-on testing for CPT+
    • Demonstrate ability to explain the delivery of MSSC "Hands-On" CPT+ training and its relationship to the CPT E-learning content
    • Competent technology/computer skills that permit instructor to use technology tools (PC, LCD, Overhead Projector, PowerPoint, etc.) in MSSC course delivery

    2. Instructor Training CPT+: 2 Day Course

    Required Qualifications:

    • Candidates must be authorized MSSC Certified Production Technician (CPT) Instructor

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Preferred to have earned the MSSC Certified Production Technician (CPT)
    • Demonstrate ability to explain the delivery of MSSC E-learning courses
    • Strong grasp of all four MSSC Assessment areas: (Safety, Quality Practices and Measurement, Manufacturing Processes and Production and Maintenance Awareness)
    • Demonstrate ability to explain the delivery of MSSC "Hands-On" CPT+ training and its relationship to the CPT E-learning content
    • Competent technology/computer skills that permit instructor to use technology tools (PC, LCD, Overhead Projector, PowerPoint, etc.) in MSSC course delivery

NCCER

  • Looking to work in construction and trades environments?


    This 80-hour NCCER (National Center for Construction Education & Research) course will provide you with the basic skills necessary to work in both.
     
    Course Description:  Key content includes: Basic Safety, Introduction to Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Basic Rigging, Basic Communication Skills, Basic Employability Skills, and Material Handling.  Completing this curriculum gives you the basic skills needed to continue education in any craft area you choose. NCCER Core is a prerequisite to all other Level 1 craft curriculums. 

    Tuition includes the NCCER Core Curriculum book, hard hat, safety goggles, safety gloves, ear protection and testing. Upon completion of this program, you will receive a certificate from NCCER, a wallet card, and be listed in the NCCER National Registry.

  • NCCER Electrical Level 1


    You can take this class without first taking the NCCER Core Curriculum, however, you will not be eligible to receive the NCCER credential until you have completed and tested out of the NCCER Core Curriculum.

    If you’re looking to start a career in the electrical field without going through an entire degree program, this short-term course is a great choice. It will introduce you to the knowledge and skills needed to enter and excel in this high-demand job market. The course is broken down into topics including: orientation to the electrical trade, electrical safety, introduction to electrical circuits, electrical theory, introduction to National Electrical Code, device boxes, hand bending, raceways and fittings, conductors and cables, basic electrical construction drawings, residential electrical services, and electrical test equipment. This course will provide 112.5 hours of training.

    SCC Corporate & Continuing Education has funding for this course through South Carolina Workforce Industry Needs Scholarship (SCWINS) Funding. The financial assistance can help pay for training that supports attainment of industry credentials.

Construction

  • Printreading for Residential and Light Commercial Construction

    Various types of construction drawings are used to represent the actual components of a building project. The drawings provide specific information about the locations of the parts of a structure, the types of materials to be used, and the correct layout of the building. Knowing the purposes of the different types of drawings and interpreting the drawings correctly are important skills in the construction trades. This course covers printreading fundamentals, construction materials, and light frame construction used in residential and light commercial buildings. It will provide information applicable to the carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and general building trades and provide an authentic printreading experience using contemporary prints.

  • Construction Technology for Residential Builders with Exam Prep

     

    If this is your first step towards a future in the construction industry, this training is the ideal starting point for a wide variety of career paths. Construction Technology will ground you in the basic knowledge and principles of carpentry, masonry, electrical work, HVAC, and plumbing. This 6-week, 54-hour course will also give you the knowledge and prepare you to take the Residential Builder Exam. This is not a hands-on course. You will need one year of work experience under a general contractor before you can take the exam to be licensed.

    Students are required to purchase the SC Residential Contractor Reference Book Set. This set may be purchased at https://www.mycontractorslicense.com/south-carolina-general-contractors-license_a/269.htm. Select SC as your state, choose SC Residential Builder Course, and SC Residential Contractor Reference Book Set. Company offers Affirm payment plan. This is a recommended site; you are welcome to check other sites but please make sure you have all current books that’s listed in this set. Books are not available in the college bookstore.

  • Residential Wiring Based on NEC

     

    This course is designed for individuals with no prior experience in the trade or individuals just starting out in the field. This is an 8 week beginner class that consists of lecture and hands on lab experience. This course covers the basics of residential electricity. This is not a license course and these hours do not count towards Journeyman Electrical License. Students will need to purchase a 2023 NEC Code book. Scholarship funding may be available to SC residents.

Industrial/Manufacturing

  • Be on the move and learn a new skill that will increase your opportunities in the workforce. You will learn the correct care and use of forklift equipment. You will be trained using OSHA s Powered Industrial Truck Standard OSHA Standard 1910.178 , forklift design limitations, use in material handling, pre operation check, operator skills and accident prevention. Class provides hands on operation for sit down forklift. You will receive a 3 year certification in forklift safety, preventative maintenance and driving operation skills. Certification is for sit down operation. Federal law requires individuals be at least 18 years of age or older to drive a forklift. Closed toe shoes are required during class.

  • In this forty hour class, students will learn the key concepts of injection molding. Major class topics include What Are Plastics , Injection Molding, The Machine, Personal Protective Equipment, Safety In the Plant, Basic Quality Control, Basic Process Troubleshooting, Key Industry Terminology, and more. In parallel to the class, enrollees are required to complete OSHA certification which is included in price. The classroom and lab are fully outfitted with hands on training aids, tools, and most importantly, a working 500 ton Engel injection molding machine. Students can expect to receive real world experience making actual parts, along with all the associated challenges and rewards.

  • This training covers an introduction to the terminology, tools, and methods of the Lean Six Sigma methodology for front-line staff/supervisors that will support improvement projects in your organization. Yellow Belt professionals are trained to assist Lean Six Sigma Black and Green Belts on improvement activities. Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt professionals are a valuable asset within an organization.

  • Sigma Green Belt professionals provide improvement processes and methodologies to organizations to reduce total operating costs. This training covers the terminology, tools, and methods of the Six Sigma methodology for individuals who will lead improvement projects in your organization.

    The course covers these subjects:

    Understanding Lean Six Sigma and the Organization

    Lean Principles in the Organization

    Project Improvement Process using the DMAIC Method

    (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)

    Students will obtain an understanding of Lean Six Sigma and how to approach a continuous improvement project using DMAIC. Students will understand when to apply SIPOC, Value Stream and Continuous Flow diagrams. Students will be able to conduct “root cause analysis” of problems using Cause and Effect and Fishbone diagrams. They will gain a basic understanding of graphical analysis tools such as Histograms, run charts and Pareto Analysis.

    Upon completion, the student will receive a certificate of completing the Green Belt Training provided the student passes the six section exams. If the student wishes, a project can be completed within 6 months of the training. The project must show applying the six sigma tools in an improvement project. Students may also choose to take the American Society for Quality.

You will receive a 3-year certification in forklift safety, preventative maintenance, and driving operation skills. Certification is for stand-up operation. Federal law requires individuals to be at least 18 years of age or older to drive a forklift. Closed-toe shoes are required during class. Must have a valid permit or driver's license or have prior experience in operating a motor vehicle.
